My daughter was admitted to Riley for a very severe kidney infection that was consuming her entire body. My daughter was so very ill and was in so much pain. My daughter was unable to hold down oral medications. The doctor was telling Maci to only give oral medication only. I did not feel like this doctor was understanding the severity of the situation or how upset I was getting just sitting there and trying to console my daughter letting her know help was on the way. My daughter felt so safe when Maci would come in to check on her. My daughter would tell me repeatedly how much she really liked her because she was so nice and didn't hurt her arm where her IV was placed. Maci took control by advocating for my child. As the mom, I was already barely holding it together. Maci was able to get the necessary medications in my child via IV. I was FINALLY able to take a breath after several days of watching my daughter decline right in front of me. This situation was BEYOND what I could have ever imagined. The worst nightmare for parents to keep getting bad news, then worse news, before almost going numb to what test results were saying. When Maci walked into the room she brought a light of hope. There are no words I can put together to form a sentence to thank her enough for how she cared for my daughter. I could not have asked for better care! She did not treat my child like she had a plague. My daughter was put under an "Isolation" status. She still looked at my child with a kindness in her eyes and every chance she could. she would tell my daughter "I hope you feel better soon." She promotes everything Riley Children's Hospital stands for and more. There are so very many wonderful nurses and staff at the hospital, but Maci Frantz by far shines the brightest. I want to personally thank you, Maci, from the bottom of my heart for everything you did for my child and what you will continue to do for other children. You spoke so kindly and gently. You alleviated so many anxieties. You took the stress off me. A true angel. Not that I would EVER want to go through anything like this EVER again, but I could do it as long as you were there. Thank you again, for everything! Not a moment of time did I have dry eyes writing this. This is a very emotional and very heart felt nomination. You have exceeded my expectation and I know you will have many. many more nominations to come. Thank you to the moon and back.
