Thank you for going above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and comfortable. We will always speak of your kindness, your dedication, and the difference you have made.
1st Nomination
Mackenzie,
There are no words to express our deep-felt appreciation. What was supposed to be a quick and simple procedure quickly turned into a pretty scary situation. Your kindness and knowledge were a blessing to us. Your bright and warm personality brought so much light to such a difficult time. Thank you for going above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and comfortable. We will always speak of your kindness, your dedication, and the difference you have made. I am blessed to be home snuggling my babies! You are a beautiful soul. Never underestimate the difference you make and how truly appreciated you are. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
2nd Nomination
I am writing to recognize and commend Mackenzie for her exceptional critical thinking and swift action in the care of a post-operative patient who was found to have a ruptured ectopic pregnancy in her left fallopian tube.
The patient was initially scheduled for a Dilation and Curettage (D&C) procedure due to a miscarriage. Post-operatively, Mackenzie observed the patient’s increased tachycardia and significant pain on the left side of her abdomen. Demonstrating her careful observation and concern for the patient’s well-being, Mackenzie promptly called the anesthesia provider and surgeon to assess the patient. Her proactive approach led to the patient being taken back to the operating room for an Exploratory Laparotomy, which revealed the rupture.
Mackenzie’s keen observation and decisive actions were instrumental in preventing a potentially life-threatening situation. Had she discharged the patient and disregarded the symptoms, the patient would have faced a poor outcome at home. Her dedication to patient care and her ability to think critically under pressure are truly commendable.
The women’s OR, PACU team, and I want to recognize Mackenzie for her outstanding performance and unwavering commitment to patient safety. Her actions exemplify the highest standards of medical care and serve as an inspiration to all healthcare professionals.
