Any NICU mom or dad can tell you their baby’s hospital journey is personally exhausting. Many days it can be discouraging, frustrating, scary, and monotonous. Often tears flow as moms and dads watch their baby work so hard to get home. Our nurse, Mackenzie does a wonderful job recognizing the needs of our parents. When a mom or dad is having a particularly difficult and emotional day, she gathers her personal supplies and creates an uplifting card to leave at the bedside. This card had the mom’s baby’s footprints on it and a kind message. When the mom returned to the room later that evening, this card was waiting for her and made such a difference. Mackenzie has impacted countless families in our NICU with her sweet words and beautiful artistic talents.
