Kenzie's compassion in those final moments in ICU brought us all to tears.
Kenzie was my husband's ICU nurse at Aurora-Summit  until his transfer to Angels Grace Hospice. Kenzie was our guardian angel registered nurse during a very difficult time for our family. Kenzie's nursing expertise for B was extraordinary through her keen observation skills and monitoring his medical needs during her entire 12-hour shift for 3 days. Kenzie advocated for B by assuring us his medications would be given on time and that all of his needs would be attended to. Kenzie's ability to anticipate B's needs helped us all in knowing he was being cared for by the BEST NURSE. Kenzie determined the safest method to administer B's Parkinson's medications due to his decreased swallowing ability. She was gentle and soft-spoken and always talked directly to B to let him and us know as she cared for him. Kenzie was able to relate to B in a tender way and he was able to respond to her.

Kenzie Halverson exemplifies all the BEST in nursing care in an intensive care environment where a patient's medical condition and needs can change moment by moment. Kenzie's skilled nursing abilities were evident in her expertise to adapt to B's declining condition and provide all the necessary medical care and services he needed. As our family made the difficult decision for B to spend his last days at Angels Grace Hospice, Kenzie immediately made the necessary phone calls for B's transfer and in doing so, there was a room available for him. Kenzie's compassion in those final moments in ICU brought us all to tears.

On behalf of myself and our family. we are eternally grateful to Kenzie Halverson, RN, for her kindness, nursing expertise, and her beautiful, loving heart. We appreciate her more than words can express. Thank you.
