We were brought into the emergency room because my son was extremely lethargic, pale, and rapidly losing weight. When we came in, our nurse MacKenzie made us feel like we were at home and safe. She made us feel like everything was going to be all right. My son is autistic and is not comfortable around strangers. As soon as she started talking to him, he acted as if he had known her for years. He was comfortable and that made me feel good, seeing that as a mom. I knew we had a good nurse; someone who was warm-hearted, kind, and had a good soul. She had to start an IV, which was going to be hard for a 3-year-old, but she stuck him and got it on the first try. We were so grateful for that because no one likes to see their kid in pain. After that, we were admitted. I just wanted our nurse to follow us up to the Pedi floor, but she couldn’t. I believe she deserves an award for how awesome of a nurse she is. Some people are just made for nursing and even special people are made for pediatric nursing.
