August 2022 Honoree
Mackenzie Rinish, RN
As a newer nurse, nothing can be more nerve-wracking than trying to "fit in." Recently, a nurse on my floor, 3W, has stepped up to make me feel more comfortable and welcome here. Mackenzie Rinish and I recently bonded over a love of reading. In a matter of 2-3 shifts, that relationship changed into a mentorship. No matter how silly I feel a question might be, or how many times I need a refresher on policy or procedures, Mackenzie never complains and is always willing to help me. For example, she has helped me set up infusions that I didn't see in orientation, and helped with my patients while I am busy, or trying to grab a quick dinner. All of this sounds like basic teamwork, but it isn't to me. At my previous facility, that was unheard of which makes me so very thankful to have a teammate like Mackenzie. I have struggled with self-confidence as a new pediatrics nurse, but Mackenzie consistently reminds me that I am worthy of this job. I'm very grateful to have her support and would like to show her that appreciation.
Thank you, Mackenzie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
