June 2025 Honoree
mackenzie Russell, RN
Mackenzie was my special needs adult sister's nurse for four consecutive shifts. This proved to be very beneficial for her recovery process as Mackenzie, over time, had learned how to effectively communicate with her! Many medical personnel do not understand how to effectively communicate with special needs, and as a retired nurse, it was a pleasure to work with Mackenzie on our common goal of getting my sister healthy again.
Mackenzie took ownership of learning how to effectively communicate with my sister, which definitely enhanced her recovery. Mackenzie took her time with my sister and talked to her, not at her. Most importantly, my sister told me that Mackenzie was her friend and that she felt comfortable with her, which was huge! Besides all the great care Mackenzie provided for my sister, she also communicated with me and was always spot on. She is a great nurse!

Thank you, Mackenzie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
