Kenzie was gentle and kind as well as confident. She always seemed to know what I needed, even before I realized it!
Kenzie was a “shining light” during the night while I was under her care before and after my surgery to “fix” my hip fracture after an unfortunate accident playing on the beautiful lakes of Minnesota. Kenzie was truly there for me every minute of the dark, scary, lonely, painful nights. She checked on me often, responded quickly, and prioritized my comfort and my rest. She also took care to make sure that my husband was comfortable through the night and early morning hours. Kenzie was gentle and kind as well as confident. She always seemed to know what I needed, even before I realized it! She always went the extra step to make my time in the hospital more pleasant.
I asked one night for a hot pad because my lower back was hurting. She said, “They are a bit hard to come by, but let me look.” Within minutes, I had a soothing hot pack on my back. On night two, I didn’t even have to ask, and I had a hot pad for my back, but even more than that….she searched the hospital to find a small portable machine that pumped warm water through a thin pad that stayed warm and soothing all night! I felt like I was sitting in a hot tub and staying dry at the same time! This was just one example of the many ways Kenzie found to comfort me.
I never left my room after surgery until I discharged so I don’t know how busy or chaotic the nights might have been but I do know that Kenzie made me feel like I was her only patient and her top priority. No doubt all of her patients felt the same caring, loving, dedication and care. Nights are long, and I know nurses are tired, but Kenzie was a ray of sunshine at all hours.
