GCGH is very fortunate to have Maclynne; she has truly chosen the right profession.
Macylnne received three nominations -

Nominated by a patient’s mother:
My daughter had a knee scope, and Maclynne was in her pre-op/post-op room. Z was very nervous and had serious anxiety about the IV and the knee block. Maclynne took all the extra time to talk to her, explain everything, and make her comfortable before and after her surgery. Maclynne provided her with warm blankets, ice water, and anything else she asked for. When we were getting everything wrapped up and ready to go, Maclynne took time to read the aftercare instructions and made sure her medication was called in. She then got my daughter out of bed and to the bathroom before we got her dressed and put her brace on. The entire time, Maclynne showed compassion and empathy while caring for her. I feel like she went above and beyond her duties as a nurse, taking care of my daughter and making her surgery a great experience! Thank you!

Nominated by a staff member/patient:
Maclynne was one of my nurses when I had surgery back in May. She was phenomenal. She answered all my questions and was supportive and caring. Maclynne got me situated before I went back and braved the projectile vomiting after I woke up and took great care of me. After my surgery, a few days later, I had some small complications. I messaged both nurses, and they were on it, getting a message to Dr. McBride. They checked on me periodically over the next few weeks to make sure I was doing okay and were there to answer any questions and concerns I had. They went above and beyond what was required of them, and I truly appreciate them more than they know!

Nominated by a patient:
I had a colonoscopy at GCGH in June. I received excellent care from everyone I saw. I do want to nominate Maclynne for a DAISY Award. She has an extraordinary personality and was very kind and considerate. I have a history of having difficulty with blood draws and IVs. This day was no exception. Maclynne was the second person to try to find an adequate vein for an IV. We had a little conversation about locating a suitable spot. I offered the back of my hand, as that has been reliable in the past. She was hesitant because she said she knew it would hurt. She looked for another suitable spot and ended up with the back of my hand. She apologized more than once for the discomfort. GCGH is very fortunate to have Maclynne; she has truly chosen the right profession. As I mentioned, I have had great experiences with everyone I’ve come in contact with at GCGH, but Maclynne just made a lasting impression. She’s very deserving of a DAISY Award.
