Maddie Martinez, RN

In the journey of life, we are occasionally given the opportunity to meet a unique individual that stands out above the norm. Maddie is that person. I would be laying there focusing on breathing and hearing her enter the room. I would say in my mind here comes my energizer bunny. There would be her face behind that enormous mask and one could actually see her eyes twinkle. She bubbles with such positive energy that she shares with her patients. Always gentle, always kind, full of concern. She puts such passion into the nursing care she gives. She gave me a special gift.

I have ugly feet covered in psoriasis that embarrasses me. Maddie washed my feet and she did it with such compassion I was not embarrassed and it felt so good. She french-braided my hair so it wouldn't tangle in the tubes. These are extra steps from an extraordinary person. We fought for my life, she was there at my side propping me up when I needed extra help. We battled; we won! Thank you, Maddie, for being there for me in this journey of life. I will be forever grateful.
