What can't we say about Maddy? She's amazing in every way. My dad had surgery in March and Maddy was one of his nurses in his 9 day stay on floor 4. I filled out a DAISY Award form when he was discharged after 23 days at Hotel Butterworth, but she never received an award. On his first visit, Maddie was so kind considerate, thoughtful, and caring. She listened to my dad's stories. He's 84 years old and shared stories of her life with him. My dad hadn't shaved in two weeks, he was itchy, and grumpy. Maddy gave him a bath, fixed his hair in a faux hawk, and shaved a lovely goatee on his face. He loved it and kept it. Fast forward to a second ICU stay (after his aneurysm surgery), from surgery they brought him to the ICU where Maddy recognized him (she wasn't his nurse).  She has stopped by 4 or 5 times on his first day here. He loved seeing her smiling face. She stayed and talked to him and remembered facts about him and made him feel so good. Maddy goes above and beyond to make her patients feel comfortable and important. Not to mention, she's a highly proficient and skilled nurse! My dad also tells everyone that asks about his hospital stay, about Maddy. We feel blessed that she was brought into our lives.
