Maddy took such good care of my baby that I could relax and take care of myself.
Maddy Adams was the shining North Star of our stay at Norton Children’s of the 5E wing. Her care led my baby to be free of his illness. Our baby came in with a fever of 100.7 that was rising. She informed me it went up to 104 when we got to the room. Already having a traumatic and life-threatening birth experience, to hear that only five weeks postpartum and post-operation, I broke down in tears. Maddy gave me the comfort and a moment that I didn’t even know I needed as she grabbed water for us. The attending came and spoke to me to help me mentally as well.
Maddy took such good care of my baby that I could relax and take care of myself. I honestly got the best sleep I have had since pregnancy. She rocked him to sleep after every intervention/ or vital sign check. She didn’t just walk in, disrupt his sleep and hand me a crying baby to put back to sleep. I don't know how she gives such personal care yet is still so punctual with her care and vital signs checks. She was always on time! She took care of my needs as a post op c section mother, although she didn’t have to. As a doula myself, I tell people all the time, the key to good postpartum support is taking good care of the baby so that the mother will be able to realize her needs at least and focus on them. And she did just that.
I know they push the idea of holistic care. Maddy Adam took care of my baby and me both clinically, mentally, and emotionally. She is the whole package of a beautiful nurse. I was so scared to come back to a hospital after our birth, I was fearless when Maddy was there, and she was my most comforting thought knowing she would be coming back. I can’t say enough about this queen of a woman and nurse. Thank you!
