December 2025 Honoree
Madeline Curry, RN II
My wife and I came in for the birth of our third child. We were extremely nervous about this due to a very rocky pregnancy and due to the stillbirth of our first child still lingering in our minds 14 years later.
From the moment we met Maddi and she took us to our room for delivery, she instantly made a connection with both of us! She knew our past history and knew that our pregnancy had been very rocky up to that point, and that it had been 11 years since our last birth. She immediately put our minds at ease with her amazing, caring demeanor. She didn't treat my wife as a patient; she treated her as a friend!
She took the time to listen to our concerns and explain everything to us, every part of the process, multiple times if needed. Never once getting frustrated if she had to repeat herself. She really went the extra mile to make my wife comfortable, mentally and physically, with everything going on.
Maddi happens to be on night shift, and my wife and I were sad to see her go home, secretly hoping our son would hold out until the next evening and keeping our fingers crossed that we would be under her care again if possible. As fate would have it, my son did hold out until the following evening, and upon learning that Maddi was working, we immediately requested her, if possible. We were so thrilled to see Maddi come through our door!
Maddi gave us the best experience we could have ever asked for. Again, she went above and beyond with the care of my wife. She made sure that she stayed as comfortable as possible and did an amazing job of keeping my wife's mind at ease with any questions or concerns. Above all else, she showed my wife and me that she cared!
Maddi helped give us the best delivery experience either of us could have ever asked for, especially considering our past trauma. When I found out about the DAISY Award, I knew I had to share our experience, because to us, Maddi is everything an extraordinary nurse should be: strong, confident, caring, and nurturing.
She showed us that it wasn't just another day at the office; Maddi made us believe that this is her true calling in life, and neither my wife nor I could be more thankful to have made this connection with her and have her be a part of this experience. If we were to have 10 more kids, we would hope and pray to be under Maddi's care for every single one!
