Madi stayed 2 hours after her shift ended to help transport mom over to the children’s hospital to spend time with her child.
Madi was the primary RN assigned to a particular patient who was admitted after she and her 12-year-old child sustained devasting injuries after a hiking accident. Madi was identified by this patient for going above and beyond. The patient’s child was in the ICU at St Louis Children’s Hospital and Madi stayed 2 hours after her shift ended to help transport mom over to the children’s hospital to spend time with her child. When I spoke to the patient about the situation, the patient cried tears of gratitude. Madi stated that she couldn’t imagine how hard the patient’s situation must be and she wanted to help in any way possible.
