I came into labor hoping to do everything naturally and unmedicated if I could. My water broke at home, and I came to the hospital and started laboring. After many hours of this, my doula told me I was in active labor, so I kept going.

Madi was the first to tell me that she thought my labor was still in early stages and the baby’s heart rate was slowly starting to increase. Madi explained to me that this could be an early stage of possible infection. As my labor kept progressing, the trend continued.

Madi gently yet persistently reminded me of the circumstances and helped me think about all of my options. This meant so much to me because I was feeling overwhelmed and afraid, but Madi helped me stay grounded and brainstorm ways to move forward.

Madi ended up being right – I did have an infection that we discovered at birth. Madi’s proactivity, patience, and persistence helped me make the most educated decision that ultimately helped save me and my baby’s lives.

I am so grateful.

Thank you, Madeline "Madi", for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
