Madeline has provided excellent nursing care medically but she stands out because her care and concern for the patient's (and family's) psychosocial well-being are so genuine and authentic. Madeline made it clear that she was listening to my daughter's emotional concerns and worries by talking, assurance and excellent follow through. She always came back to readdress situations and discuss next steps. Her ability to convey empathy in times of discomfort made my daughter feel better in the moment so she knew she had an advocate. It is difficult to talk to a preteen in the perfect way and she managed that beautifully, caring, nurturing and understanding, but also treated her maturely. Madeline seems to have the magic combination of excellent medical and emotional skills.
