During his stay, Madison always stayed positive yet was thoughtfully honest with us regarding the gravity of his health conditions.
I would like to heartily recognize Madison Beavers, who was the lead and primary nurse for my brother during the last few days of his life in the Bryan West Hospital ICU a few months ago. My brother had incurable stage 4 colon cancer, and his health status deteriorated rapidly during his final stay at Bryan. He and our family were so fortunate to have Madison as his nurse and caregiver. She was truly an angel for all of us.

During his stay, Madison always stayed positive yet was thoughtfully honest with us regarding the gravity of his health conditions. She was amazingly patient with our family and other friends who asked her a myriad of questions over several days. Most importantly, Madison was continually at his side and his best advocate over his last days, as well as marshaling whatever resources were needed to keep him comfortable.

As amazing as all of that special care was from Madison, she was also unbelievably kind and loving to my brother and our family on the last day of his life. That day was a Saturday, which was supposed to be an off-day for Madison. Nevertheless, Madison decided to come to the hospital that day so that she could care for him on his last day of earthly life and to be with all of us, his family. Madison was very clear and helpful in helping us understand what would happen in what order as all of the life-support machines would be turned off late that afternoon. She also made sure that everyone who wanted to spend 1-on-1 time with him before he passed got that time with him, as well as making physical space for all of the family that was crowded into his room as he took his final breaths. My brother, and all of us, couldn’t have been in more professional, kind, and care-focused hands and approach than Madison’s. We will always be grateful, and we will never forget our time with Madison Beavers.

I was so impressed to see how Madison and many others of your ICU team live that same purpose in how they “show up” each and every day.
