Madison cared for a patient who was nearing the end of his life, and after he passed away, his daughter-in-law reached out to express just how amazing Madison was in caring not only for the patient but also for his family. Her letter read:

"My father-in-law had collapsed at home and was transferred to UIHC from a local hospital. He ultimately ended up in MICU on a ventilator with no real hope of regaining consciousness. He was a very active 89-year-old, and this was a sudden event that took the family by surprise. The family made the decision early on to take him off the vent, and the caring and thoughtful actions of the staff struck me. In particular, his nurse, Madison, was exceptional. She explained what was happening at various stages and was so supportive. Little things like offering to play favorite music or anything that would have meaning/offer comfort to him. We jokingly said he would enjoy hearing us banter around a card game, and before we knew it, someone showed up with a deck of cards. Small things like that really make a difference. Madison made a difference."

This is incredibly common for Madison; she frequently goes above and beyond for her patients and their families. She is second-to-none at keeping things calm and comfortable for her patients, and never makes them feel that they are a burden. Madison is one of the most kind, compassionate, and caring nurses I have ever met; she is a true DAISY Nurse.
