Madison is an exceptional nurse and she never ceases to amaze and inspire me, but one recent interaction clearly stands out to me. Today she was caring for a patient that not only underwent surgery to get a chest tube but today this young teenage girl was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Madison is not a hem/onc nurse but the compassion and empathy she had for this young girl and her family were above and beyond what was expected. Not only was she there to take away the burden but she was the patient's and the parent's shoulder to cry on. After work, she even returned with a special surprise for the patient since she was nervous about her second surgery the next day. Madison was that family's shining light!
