While doing callbacks, I spoke to a patient who had been in the hospital for a COPD exacerbation. The patient's experience didn’t start out great, and she told me, “When you come to the hospital, you want someone who cares to take care of you.” She was hesitant in her words when she said, “Some people who work in hospitals aren’t as friendly as they could be.” However, when I asked her if she would like to recognize anyone at our hospital, her voice had a smile to it when she boldly stated, Madison. “She was my nurse who checked on me regularly, always with a smile and kindness.” I would like to nominate this nurse for her pleasant disposition not only to patients and families but to the staff as well. She always comes to work with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a glad heart.
