Madison Kane was nominated by a fellow nurse who witnessed her compassionate care and exceptional service.

I have worked with many nurses in my career but this particular nurse stands out for her compassionate care provided and dedication she shows to making sure the needs of patients come first. Madison and I were taking care of a postcode patient, who within 24 hours showed no signs of brain activity and was becoming increasingly ill. Our next steps meant working with the transplant network and the patient's family. The transplant network approached the family and it was decided to proceed with giving the ultimate donation, life and second chances for others.

Madison showed strength and calmness, never leaving the patient's bedside, as well as showing empathy to the family and providing dignity to her patient.

During one of the hardest times for a family to make such a tough decision and to know they would be saying goodbye to their loved one, Madison was there every step of the way. She brought comfort and answered all the family members' questions. She even stayed beyond her shift to make sure this patient received the proper care and even supported the family up until the end, walking them out to the entrance and providing condolences.

CVICU is not for the weak or faint hearted but Madison does it with grace and wit. She is the ultimate nurse and deserves recognition for the amazing nurse that she is. She is dedicated, kind hearted, empathetic, calm, level headed, communicates efficiently and goes above and beyond to make sure the mind, body, and spiritual needs of her patients are met!
