I firmly believe that good nurses have a sixth sense when it comes to the patients they care for. The night I left my father’s side, I told them, “I trust you. If you think something is changing, or happening, even if it’s not on a monitor, call me.” They did and I rushed because my dad was alone and I knew he was dying. But he wasn't alone.

When I arrived, Madison and S were on each side of his bed and they were each holding his hand and talking to him. My dad was dying but because of them, he was not by himself. Because of them and their knowledge, compassion, communication, and outreach to me, I got to be with my dad when his time was done. I trusted them and I am so grateful for the compassion, kindness, love, and respect they showed my father. So much love to RNs like them who hold hands that need it most.
