She leads with kindness. She teaches with patience. She shows up for her patients and her team with consistency, grace, and joy.
It is with the deepest admiration and gratitude that we nominate Madison Moore for the DAISY Award. Madison is the kind of nurse who transforms not only the care patients receive, but the spirit of the unit itself. Her compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to both her patients and her colleagues make her a true example of excellence in Nursing.
Madison is, without a doubt, the heart of 3 West. Madison doesn’t just provide care, she delivers connection. Her ability to see the person beyond the patient is what makes her extraordinary. She is known for sitting with patients to color or play word games, using these quiet, creative moments to ease anxiety, lift spirits, and build trust. She’ll walk to the gift shop to find a small item that brings comfort, a stuffed animal, a puzzle book, a card because she knows that healing goes beyond medications and procedures. Her thoughtful gestures remind patients they are not alone, that someone cares deeply, and that their well-being matters in every way. Her approach to care is rooted in genuine empathy and attentiveness. Madison doesn’t just respond to patients’ needs; she anticipates them. She digs deeply into each patient’s story, medical history, and current condition to ensure every decision supports the best possible outcome. She treats every patient as if they were her own loved one, advocating relentlessly for their safety, comfort, and dignity.
But Madison’s compassion doesn’t stop at the bedside. She is a fierce supporter of her coworkers and a natural mentor. She leads monthly new grad meetings that create safe spaces for learning, questions, and encouragement. She developed a journaling and communication tool for new hires that helps guide their progress and build stronger relationships between orientees and preceptors. She is always the first to lend a hand, a listening ear, or a word of encouragement. Madison is the cheerleader of our unit, not just in spirit, but in action.
Her leadership also extends into recruitment and retention. She created a detailed and welcoming PowerPoint presentation for virtual interviews that showcases our unit, helping candidates understand who we are and what we value. She's active on LinkedIn, proudly representing our team and the nursing profession while creating community and connection far beyond our hospital walls. While Madison has identified and acted on serious safety issues such as detecting infusion pump discrepancies or uncovering infections others missed, her clinical brilliance is only part of the story.
What truly makes her a DAISY Nurse is the heart, humility, and humanity she brings to everything she does. She leads with kindness. She teaches with patience. She shows up for her patients and her team with consistency, grace, and joy. She also contributes to broader departmental initiatives, collaborates with CPNEs across Heart & Vascular, mentors nursing students as an adjunct clinical instructor, and works on process improvements that elevate care hospital-wide. But no matter how many titles she holds or projects she leads, she never loses sight of the people in front of her.
Madison Moore is more than an incredible nurse; she is a source of light, strength, and inspiration. She lives the values of the DAISY Award in every interaction, every shift, and every life she touches. We are honored to nominate Madison Moore for the DAISY Award and to celebrate the extraordinary care, compassion, and leadership she brings to our unit and to the nursing profession.
