July 2026 Honoree
Madison Morel, RN
I nominate Madison for the DAISY Award because she exemplifies the highest standards of professional nursing practice, clinical excellence, patient advocacy, compassion, collaboration, trustworthiness, and professionalism. From my very first day as a nursing student, Madison welcomed me with kindness, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for teaching. She immediately took me under her wing and made me feel valued not only as a student but also as a future nurse. Throughout my clinical experience, she consistently created a supportive learning environment that helped me build confidence, develop my clinical skills, and feel like a true member of the healthcare team.
What stood out most about Madison was the way she cared for her patients. She consistently went above and beyond to advocate for them, ensuring their needs were met while providing compassionate, patient-centered care. She treated every patient with dignity, respect, and empathy, taking the time to listen, educate, and support both patients and their families. Watching her interact with patients demonstrated what nursing looks like at its very best.
Madison also exemplifies teamwork and collaboration. She is the type of nurse who notices when a colleague needs help before they even ask and willingly steps in to support the team. She maintains positive relationships with physicians, therapists, nursing staff, and students, creating an environment built on trust and mutual respect. Her leadership is evident not because of a title, but because of the example she sets every day.
As a student, one of my most meaningful experiences was seeing how intentionally Madison invested in my growth. She continuously taught, encouraged questions, explained clinical reasoning, and included me in patient care opportunities. She introduced me to members of the interdisciplinary team and made me feel welcomed and included. By the end of my clinical rotation, I felt significantly more confident in my abilities because of her mentorship and guidance. Her passion for nursing is evident in everything she does. She is committed to lifelong learning, stays informed about practice changes, and continually seeks ways to provide the highest quality care.
More importantly, she inspires those around her to become better nurses and better people. It is rare to encounter someone who is not only an exceptional clinician but also a compassionate mentor, advocate, teammate, and role model. Madison has left a lasting impact on me as a nursing student and future nurse, and she truly deserves recognition through the DAISY Award.
