This nominee serves as an assistant nurse manager. She is always bouncing between the two units answering call lights, putting in IVs, assisting with staffing assignments, taking charge during emergencies, answering phones, creating evidence-based posters, and sometimes even has a patient assignment of her own.

This nominee does all this exceptionally, but she also goes above and beyond in making meaningful connections with patients and their families. One story is when we had a patient on the unit who was frequently visited by his 5-year-old granddaughter, who referred to him as "Papa." She constantly chatted with all the nursing staff, asked them questions, and showed them around the unit.

She seemed to love all the nurses and was very curious about what they were doing with her Papa. This nominee made the 5-year-old her very own "Cleveland Clinic" badge, just like the nurses, with her picture on it, and even put it on the same retractable badge reel that we wear. This nominee gave it to her and told her that she was our very own honorary nurse! Her face lit up, and she ran around the unit the rest of the afternoon, showing everyone!

Not only is this nominee an exceptionally skilled nurse and even better assistant nurse manager, but her passion and natural empathy for patients is truly a gift to our unit.
