Mady Von Wald, RN

I received a call that my son had been severely burned. While waiting to be transferred to a trauma center, Mady came into my son’s room. She was not his nurse, but she took 5 minutes to come into his room to show him the scar from when she was burned and explained to him what had happened. He told her it was cool. The entire staff was amazing, but Mady stuck in my mind. In those 5 minutes, I really felt he was going to be okay. From that day forward, he has not been ashamed of his scars, even to the point of being mad at the doctor for grafting the entire burn to lessen the scarring. Mady truly deserves this award for what she did emotionally for my son.
