Mae was my nurse during a recent visit here to Atrium Medical Center. I was terrified. I had to have a lump removed from my breast, and Mae went out of her way to stay with me and comfort me in the pre-op area. She took her time to explain the procedure and what to expect during and after the procedure. I had a vagal response, and Mae was very calming, talking me through the episode and why my body was reacting this way. She made sure I was warm enough. She truly went above and beyond in caring for me. She took the time to be with me when I needed her, shared information with my family, and made the process much easier. She truly made a bad situation much better just being there with me.
