Maegan Wheat, BSN, RN, OCN

Maegan joined our melanoma and renal cancer team over a year ago. Maegan is a great asset to the team. She is very proactive with patient care, following up with patients frequently. There was an incident when a patient was referred to us for possible renal cell carcinoma. The patient did not have a confirmed diagnosis, just a large mass in the kidney noted on the CT scan. She reviewed the patient's chart and noted the patient had a hemoglobin of 6 from a week ago. She spoke with the referral team right away and assisted them in getting the patient admitted for further evaluation. Her quick response may have saved the patient's life; on admission patient's hemoglobin was at 4.7. She also goes above and beyond her job description and has been helping out with our clinical trial team to check eligibility and ordering screening tests for patients. On her own initiative, Maegan helped us put together “Immunotherapy Toxicities” for the new patient folders. I cannot express how grateful I am to have Maegan as one of our team members and she deserves recognition for all of her hard work.
