Some of the toughest critics of healthcare are VA employees themselves, who hold a high standard for staff because of their unyielding regard for the ICARE principles. One such former VA employee, veteran, and patient himself commended Maegann Koenig, giving her "10 stars out of 10" for how she put him at ease and "took away a lot of [his] anxiety and stress." He was "always confident that when she was close by, [his] recovery was going to go well," because of the way Maegann answered all his questions and explained all his medications and symptoms in a way he could understand.
