This is the FIRST time the Work Life Council has EVER received 11 nominations for one nurse! Below are excerpts from those 11 DAISY Award nominations written about Maegen:
"Maegen was, without a doubt, the nurse we were praying for. As she communicated with my sister-in-law, Maegen was calm, thorough, empathetic, and knowledgeable as she helped her know that my brother was loved on and taken care of. We live in California and even our 17 year old daughter told me, unsolicited, that she feels like she needs to write Maegen a long letter because of how well she's taken care of her Uncle. Maegen has been a bright light in the middle of a very sad, terrible journey for our entire family. We're so thankful for Maegen.
Maegen is taking care of my husband who is on a ventilator in the ICU with COVID. She provided such patient and kind answers on the scariest days of our lives. She explained everything with so much knowledge and was rejoicing with us over the small victories. I loved knowing that she was giving my husband such excellent care. I really can't begin to tell you what comfort we found knowing she was there since we are not allowed to be. She is risking her health to save my husband. My family and I would all gather around the phone to talk with our favorite nurse and were so thankful for all her kindness. We will never forget her."
"Our dear friend was diagnosed with COVID, in the ICU on a ventilator. Maegen has been the light that his wife and children have had through this. She has been so sweet and patient as well as communicating via FaceTime with them. As someone who loves this family, I am so grateful to Maegen."
"Maegen's endless cheerfulness in celebrating small victories and patience in answering question after question has carried us into a scary and completely unknown land with such grace. She absolutely brought peace and stability to one of the darkest times for this family. She was an angel sent from God."
Thank you Maegen - "We are Proud You are a WakeMed Nurse!"
