Maelyn has shown exemplary compassion and an unmatched willingness to learn during her clinical time. During her Hospice encounter, she was faced with a very difficult patient and family situation with someone who was very young and in the final stages of cancer that was a recent diagnosis. Maelyn far surpassed the expectations in the treatment and compassion she exhibited during that time. She spent the majority of the day caring for the patient one on one and ensuring her comfort and the well-being of the patient’s family. The Hospice nurses were amazed at the qualities Maelyn portrayed and reached out to me to share what a wonderful nurse they think she will be and to express their interest in having her at Hospice if she chose that career path.
