February 2024 Honoree
Magdalena Glazer, BSN, RN
Just one example, of many, that demonstrated Magdalena's excellence was during my first hospital admission. I had not eaten or had anything to drink for six days. Finally, a Doctor came into my room and said I could eat/drink again. You can only imagine how much I looked forward to hearing that news. Unfortunately, the Doctor never gave those orders to Magdalena. Therefore, Magdalena could not let me eat/drink until she got permission from a Doctor. It was late in the day, and Magdalena tried to contact the Doctor, but could not get a hold of him. She was very concerned and stayed beyond her shift trying to contact several Doctors until she finally located one who would provide the eat/drink order for me. Magdalena could have left for the day, too, but did not leave until she was able to help me obtain the food/drink that I longed to have and was critically important for my well-being and health. I will never, ever forget how thoughtful and caring she was to me. I was thrilled to have Magdalena as my nurse on my second admission because I considered her the best and knew I would get amazing, trustworthy care.
Thank you, Magdalena, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
