Maggie Denny, BSN, RN
I would like to nominate Maggie Denny for the DAISY Award to recognize the truly exceptional care she has provided to my husband during his stay in the Heart and Vascular ICU at Penn Presbyterian Hospital.
From the moment we met Maggie, her attentiveness and kindness were unmistakable. She has taken impeccable care of my husband not only medically, but emotionally as well. He arrived in the ICU with significant chest pain, shortness of breath, and other concerning symptoms. On top of that, he was still recovering from unrelated dental surgery. Maggie took every one of his concerns seriously. She made sure he was comfortable in all aspects, even those that weren’t directly related to his cardiac issues. Her attention to detail and her ability to anticipate needs, often before we even verbalized them, were extraordinary.
Maggie balances professionalism with warmth in a way that is truly special. She has been consistently caring, encouraging, and patient with both of us. She brings a smile, a kind word, and a genuine sense of support every time she enters the room. Her sense of humor has brought light to some overwhelming days, and her confidence and calm presence have made us feel safe in an otherwise frightening time.
What sets Maggie apart is her authentic interest in our family. When my husband shared stories about our lives, she didn’t just listen, she connected. She asked questions, remembered details, and made him feel genuinely heard and valued. That level of compassion can’t be taught; it is part of who she is.
Maggie has gone out of her way again and again to make sure my husband is comfortable and cared for, and she has encouraged both of us at moments when we needed it most. Her dedication, empathy, and exceptional nursing skill have made an immeasurable difference in our experience.
We are deeply grateful for everything she has done. Maggie truly embodies the spirit of the DAISY Award, and we feel incredibly fortunate to have had her as our nurse. Please accept this DAISY Award in recognition of the enormous difference you make in the lives of the patients you care for!
