November 2021 Honoree
Maggie Howe, BSN, RN
I had a serious bicycle accident and was admitted first to the ER, then to the hospital. I had severe head trauma in addition to shoulder and hip injuries. All the staff at Methodist impressed me with their competence and kindness to someone in a vulnerable state. An Extraordinary Nurse, Maggie, on the day shift was so kind, empathetic, very competent, and had a cheery personality. This was so welcome since I was vulnerable and very tired. Maggie kept me informed of my situation and was an advocate to accelerate my PT and for my hopeful discharge. I felt I was not just another body to take care of on her shift, but she listened to my complaints as a grumpy patient because of no sleep and my injuries. Maggie’s skills are well above even what I found to be the other excellent and caring nurses and nurse assistants, PT staff, transport staff, X-ray and CT techs, and echo cardiac technologist at Methodist Hospital. She is a credit to your organization (hang on to her).
Thank you, Maggie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
