I would like to nominate Maggie, an ER nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital, for the DAISY Award in recognition of the extraordinary care she provided to my dad.

From the moment we arrived, Maggie showed what it truly means to be a compassionate, skilled nurse. She went above and beyond to ensure my dad was not only medically cared for, but also comfortable and treated with dignity. During a very stressful and emotional time for our family, Maggie was a steady source of reassurance.

What stood out immediately was her clinical expertise and attentiveness. My dad was extremely dehydrated, and without hesitation, Maggie recognized that finding a vein would be difficult. Instead of causing him discomfort with multiple attempts, she quickly chose to use ultrasound guidance to locate his veins. Because of her knowledge and decisive action, she started treatment efficiently and spared him unnecessary pain. That level of critical thinking and patient-centered care truly meant a lot to us.

She also kept us informed every step of the way, taking the time to clearly explain what was happening and what to expect. No matter how many questions we had, she remained patient, attentive, and kind. Her ability to communicate with both professionalism and warmth made a lasting impact on all of us.

What stood out most was her genuine compassion. Maggie had such a cheerful, calming presence and always approached us with a smile. It was clear she truly loves what she does, and that passion shines through in how she cares for her patients and their families.

Because of Maggie, a difficult experience became much more manageable, and we felt supported every step of the way. She is a true example of excellence in nursing and more than deserves this recognition.

Thank you, Maggie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
