As a nurse on the oncology unit, not a day goes by that an emotional toll is not taken home. A family member nominated our September DAISY honoree, Maggie Sexton, RN, for going above and beyond for her father. In this patients final stage of cancer, Maggie was “kind, gentle and compassionate and never reacted (to his agitation) but responded in the most caring and loving way.” Maggie made an impression on this daughter who feels Maggie is the “quintessential caregiver.” Congratulations, Maggie.
