When I was terrified of my newborn needing a spinal tap, Maida Lewinson kindly asked me how I was feeling. Held my newborn’s hand, swaddled her, cooed at her, and assured us that she would treat her as her own baby, and she really did. She was the warm pressure we all needed to get through the experience.
