July 2024 Honoree
Makayla Irvin, LPN
From the moment I saw Makayla I knew she was a special lady! When she first helped me out of my bed, she held my hand with a death grip, which I thought was amazing for such a young lady. She stopped from her daily routine to hear my stories of how I first overcame Covid. In the midnight hour, as I was coughing my head off and thought I was going to die, I prayed to God and said, “I am ready to go; heal me or call me home.” I went to sleep and the next morning I slowly got better. Makayla leaned up against the wall listening to every word, the expression on her face was very concerned, like she cared and I thought she was sincere about her patients.
Another thing I liked about her was that she looked up a new medication that I was taking, and now I look up all of my meds!
Makayla, by far, stands out above all the rest!
I came back to the hospital a second time, hoping that I could have her again. Sure enough, she said, “I knew that name sounded familiar!” The second visit was a success, and they put in a stent. The next day, I was discharged, but the hospital stay and the food were excellent! Thank you to all the staff who worked hard behind the scenes!
