December 2022 Honoree
Makenzie Ribeiro, BSN, RN
I had a tethered spinal cord surgery. The whole experience at Rhode Island Hospital was exhausting and painful. Makenzie went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and had the most positive attitude about everything. Any time I needed something, she was right there to help. I was struggling with pain management and laying on a normal hospital bed which was making it worse. Makenzie went out of her way to find me one of the air beds to help with my recovery and pain. She spoke to me like a human being and not just another patient. She also went out of her way to make my mother feel comfortable while she was staying with me.
Overall, Makenzie’s hard work, dedication, and compassion had a huge impact on me and my recovery. Every nurse should have the drive and patience that Makenzie does. I felt so safe in her care as she went above and beyond to comfort me in a time of need.

Thank you, Makenzie, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
