Maki is amazing! Within the clinic she is the primary nurse for scheduled RN visits. Many of these patients are chronic wound care and dressing changes and others are patients needing follow-up that does not require a physician visit. Often she has days with very difficult wounds and dressings, such as washing lower extremities, irrigating with NS, treating the wounds and COBAN wraps. Unfortunately, many of our patients have mobility issues and are obese. To see Maki do this very hard work with the most caring and compassionate attitude not only makes you feel proud to be a nurse but inspires you to be a better human being. When she's gone, if you bring up her name, her patient will tell you what a great nurse she is and how much she means to them…the stories are really moving! If you ask any of the in-patient Wound Specialists about Maki, they too will tell you, she has excellent clinical skills and is extremely caring. She's the perfect employee, a team builder. Always willing to train new RNs and nursing students, never in a bad mood, always ready to be a "nurse".
To her patients, there's no other, to her colleagues, she is an inspiration and to our providers she's the wound expert. Maki is our treasure!
