Mallary is a neonatal nurse practitioner. She went on a transport today and brought a newborn back to Sanford NICU. Unfortunately, the parents were unable to come with their new baby and the weather was poor that afternoon making it impossible for them to drive here.
I overheard Mallary make a phone call to the parents after the baby was stabilized. I was truly amazed at her sincere compassion and her very respectful interactions on the phone. She patiently and simply explained the situation and genuinely made the family feel at ease.
Mallary always makes time to sit down with families in the NICU to answer their questions and calm their fears. She is so thoughtful and purposeful in her interactions. This behavior also extends in her interactions with bedside nurses. She is always teaching and patiently explaining the whys and what ifs. She is always kind and caring and very trustworthy.
