June 2021 Honoree
Mallory Funyak, BSN, RN
Mallory consistently exemplifies exceptional leadership in the ED. During one of my most difficult days as a nurse she showed compassion by helping me decompress my busy assignment. I am grateful to have her as a colleague and I am grateful for her consistent leadership in our department.
***
Mallory started her career at CHP in 2012 as a member of the patient access team. Soon after she was offered a position as an APCT in the Emergency Department, and subsequently finished her BSN degree and accepted a position as a Professional Staff Nurse in the ED. Mallory has always demonstrated a passion for pediatric emergency nursing and a high degree of leadership on the unit. She was promoted to the Clinical Leader role over a year ago and has continued to thrive in her leadership and mentoring role. Mallory is consistently recognized during employee rounds as being a strong presence and a great help to staff. She always has a strong grasp on all areas of the department, and consistently goes above and beyond to make staff feel supported and heard. Mallory has also demonstrated her commitment to the patient experience by chairing our department committee and has organized and led many initiatives that have helped to escalate our department's patient satisfaction scores. As leaders, we could not be prouder to endorse Mallory Funyak as a recipient of the DAISY Award.
