Mallory constantly reminded me that she wasn't going to let me give up and she pushed me when that's all I wanted to do.
When I came into the ICU, barely alive after a massive stroke, Mallory was my nurse before I was even off of life support. Her face was the first one I saw when I woke up, and even though I flipped her off (she asked about my favorite finger) she had the biggest smile on her face. She said "well hello, sleepyhead. It's nice to finally see those beautiful eyes open."

From then on, she was my nurse almost the entire time I was in the ICU and she was perfect. She even brushed and braided my crazy, nappy hair when I was able to get out of bed. God bless her just for that mess. She made sure I always had my warm blankets, she made sure I ate even when I would have rather not. She's the one who told me I was gonna get up and try to walk because she knew I could… and I did. She always knew just what to say when I was crying, scared or anxious; her pep talks and compassion helped my recovery more than I can explain. Mallory constantly reminded me that she wasn't going to let me give up and she pushed me when that's all I wanted to do.

Every day that I saw her she'd remind me, "you really are a miracle, sis" and she made sure I knew and believed that. I could go on and on but you get the idea. She's a great nurse and an amazing person with such a big heart.

This is Mallory's second DAISY Award!
