This nurse is not only an incredibly caring and attentive leader, but she is also an exemplary nurse and preceptor. Throughout a few shifts as her preceptee I was able to observe how genuinely and deeply she cares for her patients and the way she goes above and beyond to provide the most compassionate and comprehensive care possible.

A moment that sticks out deeply to me is when a tracheostomy patient was under our care. Mallory is cross-trained on TICU protocol/equipment and has a natural affinity for connecting with all patients but especially those with chronic conditions and equipment. The way this nurse provided expert therapeutic communication with the patient's parents as they awaited news about their child's decannulation was amazing to watch and be a part of. She was such a pillar of support and knowledge for this family and patient in a time of uncertainty. Her support was easily visualized by the way she connected with all in the room.

When the time came to transition the patient from their trach to room air, Mallory was there supporting the patient, brushing their hair, singing songs, and cheering the patient on for this exciting new moment. She made a deeply palpable difference in this patient/family's life and they expressed such gratitude to her for all she had done in supporting their medical, emotional, and spiritual needs to the fullest. Her unwavering care is felt across the unit and by every patient and family she has. She is a constant helping hand to all on the unit, whether RN, MD, EHS, and others. Her communication is clear, compassionate, and kind to all she encounters and I believe and have seen her make a positive difference in the lives of so many patients families, and staff.
