Mallory showed compassion throughout this interaction. I was so impressed with her calm leadership and intuition.
I was a clinical instructor for Mallory in her first semester. I unfortunately became extremely sick all of a sudden while on the unit. Mallory immediately assessed that I was not feeling well, and before I had the chance to even say a word, Mallory grabbed a wheelchair and helped me sit. She asked important questions, gave me the time to catch my breath, advocated for me, and made sure I was safe. Mallory asked if she could take me to the ER. I hesitantly agreed, as I had never felt as bad as I did that day. Mallory wheeled me to the ER. She stayed with me throughout the check in process taking vitals, assuring I had what I needed. Mallory showed leadership by coordinating all students to leave the unit and meet in front of the lobby. She coordinated gathering all my belongings and made sure I had them in hand. I was in a lot of pain and could not stop vomiting, and Mallory continued to make sure I had what I needed. Mallory advocated for me when I was too sick to speak. Mallory offered to stay with me in the ED and extended her help if I changed my mind after she left. Mallory showed compassion throughout this interaction. I was so impressed with her calm leadership and intuition. She made this unfortunate event as smooth as it could have been, ensuring everyone was safe and accounted for. For this interaction, I would like to nominate Mallory Moore for the DAISY Award.
