I have had the pleasure of working with Mallory for three years now and she has consistently been the most passionate and caring nurse in the AAU unit. As a PCT I have been able to work side by side with Mallory and really learn what it means to give the mother standard of care. For example, Mallory had a patient once that was going to be transferred to another facility after discharge and it would be a six-hour ambulance ride. Mallory immediately put herself in the patient’s shoes and made sure the patient had snacks and drinks to take along with them during the long ambulance ride. She demonstrates that she doesn’t see our patients as just another number but as a person that has both physical and emotional needs. She wants all of her patients to continue to get better even after discharge. Mallory has mentored me to further learn new skills and has taught me to think outside of the box in order to problem solve. Mallory should receive this award in my opinion because of her empathy and dedication to her patients.
