My nurse, Mandi, in Labor and Delivery was amazing. They were incredibly busy that day and she had been called in on her day off. She had a wonderful attitude and didn't seem bothered at all, even though I'm sure she would have rather been relaxing at home. Mandi was my nurse throughout my entire labor and delivery and I honestly don't think I could have done it without her. I never was thinking, "Where is my nurse?" She checked on me so frequently, and I never felt alone. She answered all of my silly questions with a smile, some probably more than once. As a nurse, I know how it is to be busy and just do what is required of you in your job description. She went above and beyond and was incredibly personable. We spent a lot of time during my labor just chatting and that was tremendous in keeping my mind off of any pain or anxiety. It is nearly impossible to maintain any sense of modesty when having a baby, but Mandi did a great job in treating me with dignity and respect. We were certainly able to laugh about some of the more awkward moments. Mandi was also my day shift nurse up on postpartum. She made sure that everything was lined up so that I could have a 24 hour discharge, and she worked hard to ensure that it happened. Again, she checked on me frequently and was very attentive to any needs we had. Anything we asked for was taken care of quickly and I never felt pushed aside. I had a wonderful birth experience and I think she played a huge part in that.
