My nurse, Mandy Brown, went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and encouraged me that all would go well and that I was in good hands.
I was recently a patient in the Cardiac Cath unit and even though I have had this procedure before, they have not gone well. I was made to feel like a waste of their time and the staff there was not pleasant at all. It is never easy facing any kind of surgery becasue you never know what the outcome will be. I was anxious and scared, praying this would not be a repeat of the past. My nurse, Mandy Brown, went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and encouraged me that all would go well and that I was in good hands. But it was not only me, as I waited to go back for the procedure, I also noticed she did the same for every patient she met. She checked on each patient regularly to make sure they did not need anything and to make sure we were ok and kept everyone up to date on what was happening and when we could expect to be taken back. When I came out, Mandy knew my weakness for Starbucks coffee and made a point to go buy me one before they closed. It was something she did not have to do but did anyway at her own expense. She made me feel special. I have worked with Mandy before and this is a side of her that truly makes her one of a kind. The whole team was great from the nurses to the techs and my doctor just made the experience so much easier. Making sure my pain never got out of control. What a team and they should be recognized for their hard work and dedication to their patients.
