I had never been to this Cedars before, and meeting Manny alleviated any fears I had about being in a new ER.
I came in scared and in pain. There was a long wait. Manny was so knowledgeable at triage and compassionate. He checked in on me in the waiting room and gave me reassurance that everything would be okay. I had never been to this Cedars before, and meeting Manny alleviated any fears I had about being in a new ER.

His compassion makes you feel like you are more than just another body in the ER, and his innocent kindness truly makes him a nurse any hospital or patient would be so lucky to have. Not only did he make me feel safe and cared for, but he is also so personable; he can take your mind off the pain for a moment. He spreads positivity at a moment when I was in pain, scared, and felt alone in a new place. I cannot describe how rare that is in an ER nurse when they are so busy. I have a rare, very serious illness (autoimmune) and have spent my life in and out of hospitals. I have been hospitalized for weeks at a time at other Cedars. You get to know your nurses there. In just one night, Manny surpassed almost every nurse. He cares. He is so clearly passionate about helping people, and he helped me through my time.

If I could, I would love for him to come to care for me upstairs. Cedars Marina has a true STAR in Manny, and I have no doubt he will leave a lasting impact that will reflect not only the hospital as it grows but also the ER department. ERs are notoriously not fun anywhere you go—however, Cedars Marina tops my list after the integrity, respect, competence, compassion, and ability to act as a patient advocate that Manny showed. Extraordinary doesn’t do Manny justice. Remarkable, phenomenal, and one in a million are better superlatives.

Although my time with him was short, he left such a lasting impression. Go, Manny! When I was in pain but didn’t want to be admitted, he helped me weigh the pros and cons, and I made the right decision while he made me laugh despite my pain. Talk about going above and beyond. He makes you feel like a person who has a friend, not just a nurse.

PS: Many doctors do not know about my illnesses, but Manny knew all about them and all the comorbidities.
