From that moment I knew my dad was going to be in good hands. He attentively listened to not only my dad but our concerns too.
I want to start off by saying Manny is an AMAZING nurse. The kindness and care he showed my father, and my family, is why I want to thank him by nominating him for this award. It was in November 2022 when I brought my dad into the emergency room for the second time in two weeks, since my dad was having issues with his breathing and his heart was racing. My dad was recently told he had heart failure and had fluid in his heart. He was taken into a room quickly and this young man walked in and introduced himself as Manny and said he was going to be my dad's nurse. From that moment I knew my dad was going to be in good hands. He attentively listened to not only my dad but our concerns too. Whenever we had questions, he would face us and listen and then answer them in a way we understood. When we told him my dad is very hard to get blood from, he did not dismiss us like we have been dismissed in the past. He came in with this machine and explained to us what he was looking at, and when I say he got the IV in, in less than a minute, I mean it. The extraordinary skills he possesses did not go unnoticed and when we found out he had only been a nurse less than 6 months!!! It blew our minds. We thought he had been a nurse for years with the amount of knowledge, compassion, and care he showed us. Not to mention how thorough he was with everything he did. We will forever remember him and will ask for him every time we come back to this hospital. Caring and compassionate nurses are hard to come by these days and this young man is a fine example of what a nurse should strive to be. Thank you, Manny, for taking care of my dad and us, you made a huge impact in our lives and want to say thank you for caring about your patients and loving what you do.
